BEETHOVEN Overture to Egmont
TCHAIKOVSKY Concerto in D Major for Violin and Orchestra

Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto continues to captivate listeners with its soaring melodies, emotional intensity, and radiant beauty. Artist-in-Residence Leonidas Kavakos promises something fresh: “Each and every time the listener goes away taking something new and something beautiful with them.” The concert opens with Beethoven’s stirring Egmont Overture, a dramatic tribute to resilience and heroism.

While this concert is a featured part of the Dallas Symphony Gala evening, it’s open to all. Concertgoers are invited to purchase After-Party tickets at $75. This includes a glass of bubbles, plus access to a dessert and coffee bar, and live music by Groove Sinfonico. Gala dinner guests will enjoy the concert as part of their experience, and all attendees are invited to keep the celebration going after the concert.

This concert celebrates the DSO’s 125th Anniversary. In 1961 the legendary Georg Solti conducted Beethoven’s Overture to Egmont on his first subscription concert as music director in the DSO’s former concert hall, McFarlin Memorial Auditorium.
