Mariachi Lone Star
Mariachi Lone Star is a premier mariachi ensemble in Dallas, known for its vibrant performances that celebrate the rich heritage of traditional Mexican music. Mariachi Lone Star was established in 2010 and comes from the private studio of husband and wife, Juan M. Garcia and Maria Vargas-Garcia. Maria is a proud alumna of the DSO’s Young Strings program, Greiner Middle School alumna, and is now the head orchestra and mariachi director at her alma mater.
Mariachi Lone Star is unique in where all members are alumni of Dallas’ Greiner Middle School! They now thrive in careers such as teaching music, business, law, architecture and forensics. They pride themselves with having a diverse group of performers playing the traditional mariachi instruments and adding a bit of accordion to the mix. Mariachi Lone Star has an extensive performance history. Over the years the group has performed at major cultural events and festivals such as at the Dallas Opera House, the State Fair of Texas, the Wyly Theatre, Arlington Live, and were the opening act for the George Lopez Comedy Show. Mariachi Lone Star is committed to taking mariachi music to great heights, keeping the Mexican culture alive for generations to come.
Mariachi Lone Star es un conjunto de mariachis primarios en Dallas, conocidos por sus actuaciones vibrantes que celebran el rico patrimonio de la música tradicional mexicana. Mariachi Lone Star se estableció en 2010 y viene del estudio privado de marido y esposa, Juan M. Garcia y Maria Vargas-Garcia. Maria es una exalumna del programa Young Strings de el DSO, exalumna de Greiner Middle School y ahora es orquesta principal y director de mariachis en su alma mater.
Mariachi Lone Star es único en el sentido que cada miembro es exalumno de Greiner Middle School en Dallas! Ahora prosperan en carreras como música, negocio, ley, arquitectura, y ciencia forense. Su orgullo es tener un grupo diverso de artistas tocando los instrumentos tradicionales de mariachi, y añadiendo un poco de acordeón a la mezcla. Mariachi Lone Star tiene una historia de rendimientos extensa, a lo largo de los años el grupo a actuado en gran eventos culturales y festivales como en el Dallas Opera House, el Texas State Fair, el Wyly Theatre, Arlington Live, y fueron el acto de apertura por el programa de comedia de George Lopez. Mariachi Lone Star se compromete a llevar la música de mariachis a gran alturas, manteniendo viva la cultura mexicana por las generaciones venideras.
