Title Honors Tyzik’s 13-Year Tenure as Principal Pops Conductor at the
Dallas Symphony Orchestra

Dallas, Texas (December 9, 2025) — The Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) today announced that Jeff Tyzik (Dot & Paul Mason Principal Pops Conductor Podium) has been named Principal Pops Conductor Emeritus beginning in the 2026/27 concert season. In this role, Tyzik will continue to present orchestral programs that blend genres and celebrate the role of the orchestra in popular music.

Tyzik first conducted the DSO in a program in 2005 with the Mambo Kings. In Fall 2013, he was named Principal Pops Conductor and has led concerts on the Pops Series Presented by Capital One, as well as at the Bravo!Vail Festival in Colorado. Tyzik’s programs have spotlighted a range of musical styles, from Motown and country to the sounds of the Harlem Renaissance and even 1980s radio hits.

“It is an honor to be named Principal Pops Conductor Emeritus of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. I have treasured my relationships both with the musicians of the DSO and with our wonderful concertgoers as Principal Pops Conductor and throughout my relationship with Dallas for the past 20 years,” said Tyzik. “I am thrilled to continue our musical adventures as we bring exciting new programs to the Dallas community that are fun, engaging and filled with musical integrity.”

Tyzik will return to Dallas in April 2026 for a program celebrating the 250th Birthday of the Declaration of Independence with the US Naval Academy Glee Clubs and Pipe and Drum Corps. In June 2026, Tyzik will lead Icons of the Strip, a concert featuring the music of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack. Programs for the 2026/27 season will be announced in February 2026.

“Jeff’s energy and passion for all genres of music have been apparent throughout his relationship with the DSO,” said Michelle Miller Burns, Ross Perot President & CEO of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. “His talent has charmed audiences and musicians alike, and I am delighted to continue our partnership.”
