As a singer, songwriter, activist, and educator, Reuben’s influence resonates deeply, and his artistry transcends entertainment as a vehicle for social change and community empowerment. Reuben’s music is a vibrant blend of old-school R&B and contemporary pop, infused with soulful vocals and lyrics that speak to the heart. His performances are captivating, engaging audiences with his undeniable talent and infectious energy. His timeless single “Stand Up” is a modern-day “What’s Going On” or “Change Is Gonna Come,” providing motivation and inspiration to people from all walks of life. This song carries a powerful message for all and has received overwhelming support, even airing on CBS 11 and TXA 21 during its feature in the 35th Black Music and Civil Rights Movement Concert hosted by The Black Academy of Art at the Dallas Symphony Myerson.

Beyond his musical prowess, Reuben possesses a rare ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He uses his platform to advocate for social justice, equality, and the betterment of all communities. His commitment to education and mentorship further distinguishes him as an exceptional role model. Reuben inspires young people to pursue their dreams, fostering their creativity and empowering them to become agents of positive change.

His work with nonprofits and civic organizations, including The National Urban League Young Professionals, NAACP, Our Vote Our Voice, and his fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., reflects his dedication to making a difference. He currently serves as a board member of 24 Hour Dallas and as the chair of The Black Academy of Arts and Letters Millennial Board. Most recently, Reuben was elected as President of the Dallas-Fort Worth Urban League Young Professionals after serving a four-year term as the National Communications chair for the National Urban League Young Professionals.

Reuben has been honored by many organizations, including The State Fair of Texas and the Friends of Juanita Craft House Civil Rights Museum Catalyst Award. His roots in Dallas, his family’s legacy of service, and his own contributions to the cultural landscape make him a rising leader to watch.

Reuben Lael was initiated on March 3, 2007, into the Beta Sigma chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at Southern University A&M College. After 18 years, he remains actively involved and financially contributing, having served in several leadership capacities at the state, regional, and national levels. Currently, he serves as the chapter advisor for the Iota Kappa chapter at Paul Quinn University.

Reuben continues to make a profound impact through his leadership and dedication to community service, inspiring future generations and advocating for positive change.
