Reese Farnell
A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Reese Farnell is serving as Interim Assistant Principal/Utility Horn with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for the 2024/25 season. For the six years prior, he performed with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, primarily in the role of Second Horn. Reese is formerly Principal Horn of the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra, and he has appeared as Guest Associate Principal Horn with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Guest Principal Horn with Symphony S.O.N.G. in Seoul, Korea. As a freelance musician in DFW, Reese has had the privilege of performing with The Dallas Opera and Dallas Chamber Symphony, and has performed onstage behind Yo Yo Ma, Andrea Bocelli, The Who, Marvin Sapp and Ben Folds, among others. Since 2023, he has spent summers at the festival orchestra Music in the Mountains in Durango, Colorado. Reese holds a Bachelor of Music from The University of Texas, and both a Master of Music and Master of Musical Arts from Yale University. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Kitt and their three dogs, trail running, backpacking and all things outdoors.
