Reese Farnell

A native of Fort Worth, Reese Farnell grew up attending Dallas Symphony concerts and is overjoyed to become a member of its horn section. Recently, he served as Third Horn in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for the 2025-2026 season, following a year as an interim member of the horn section for Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Prior to that, Farnell was a freelancer in the Dallas/Fort Worth area since 2018, performing primarily for the Dallas and Fort Worth symphonies and The Dallas Opera. He also served briefly as Principal Horn of Sichuan Symphony in Chengdu, China. Farnell has performed as the Guest Principal Horn with Symphony S.O.N.G. in Seoul, Korea, and as Guest Associate Principal Horn with the Atlanta and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestras. His career highlights include performing the full cycle of Der Ring des Nibelungen with Dallas Symphony and playing in the Fort Worth Symphony accompanying the competitors in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

Farnell received his Bachelor of Music Studies from The University of Texas studying with Patrick Hughes. At Yale University, he earned two degrees, Master of Music and Master of Musical Arts, studying with William Purvis.

In his spare time, Farnell enjoys outdoors pursuits including trail running, backpacking and rock climbing, as well as experiencing arts, culture and cuisine with his wife Kitt. He resides in Dallas with Kitt and their three rescue dogs.
