Raashi Kulkarni

Composer and Pianist

Raashi Kulkarni is a composer and classical pianist based in Los Angeles. She has established a distinct compositional voice that can be heard across a variety of genres, including drama, comedy, adventure, animation, and action. Raashi’s global perspective, study of different music disciplines, and passion for storytelling have been instrumental in the compositions she has developed for a vast spectrum of film and television projects. Her latest scoring work can be heard in the Netflix and Imagine Entertainment feature, Wedding Season, directed by Tom Dey, the award-winning documentary, Barefoot Empress, written and directed by Michelin Star Chef Vikas Khanna, the Disney+ film, World’s Best, from director Roshan Sethi and producers Thomas Kail and Utkarsh Ambudkar, and the SXSW feature, A Nice Indian Boy, from director Roshan Sethi, starring Jonathan Groff and Karan Soni. Kulkarni completed the prestigious Universal Composers Initiative, developed by NBCUniversal’s Global Talent Development & Inclusion group partnered with Universal Global Film Music (2021-2023). She recently scored a project for DreamWorks Animation set to release next year.

Raashi, with Emmy winner Blake Neely, contributed additional music  for over 150 episodes on series such as the CW’s Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. For DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, she composed and orchestrated the DC Universe’s first Bollywood-inspired musical.

In addition to film and television scoring, Raashi is a globally recognized musical artist. Her two independent albums, Raashi (2018) and Afterglow (2020), debuted at #1 and #2, respectively, on the iTunes World Music Charts. As an artist, she has performed at the Shrine Auditorium, Village Studios, Kennedy Center, Smithsonian Museum, and Patriot Center. Her YouTube piano covers, which are arranged solely by ear, have been discovered and recognized by iHeartRadio, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, Capitol Records (as part of Beck’s successful GRAMMY campaign), and YouTube India. In addition to her creative pursuits, Raashi is dedicated to championing her peers. As a current Board Member and former Executive Director of the Alliance for Women Film Composers, she advocates for the inclusion and visibility of all women and non-binary composers in media scoring. Raashi also serves as an Advisor for the Recording Academy’s LA Chapter Board. Committed to nurturing emerging talent, she teaches music theory and orchestration virtually while mentoring aspiring musicians. Raashi believes in investing her time in transcendent initiatives that have a lasting impact.
