Michael Laurenz

Tenor

The German tenor started his career as a trumpet (principle of the Berliner Symphoniker), from 2006 on he concentrated on singing.

After being a member of the Opernstudio and the Ensemble of the Oper Zürich, he joined the ensemble of the Wiener Staatsoper for two seasons. During this time he sang parts like Arbace/ Idomeneo, Basilio/ Le nozze di Figaro, Lindoro/ Haydns La fedeltà premiata, Dr. Cajus/ Falstaff, Tanzmeister/ Ariadne auf Naxos, Valzacchi/ Der Rosenkavalier, Iwan/ Die Nase, Pedrillo/ Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Der Schäbige/ Lady Macbeth von Mzensk, David/ Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Pirzel/ Die Soldaten.

Since 2020 he is a freelance artist and engagements lead him to the Staatsopern Berlin, Hamburg, München, Wien, Opera National de Paris, Scala di Milano, the Festivals in Glyndebourne and Bregenz, as well as, the opera houses in Amsterdam, Genf, Lyon and Antwerpen where he gave his role debuts as Aegisth/ Elektra and Albert Gregor/ Vec Makropulos.

After his debut as Scaramuccio/ Ariadne auf Naxos at the Salzburger Festspiele he returned to Salzburg as Cauchon in Braunfels´ Jeanne d’Arc, as acclaimed Josef K in Gottfried von Einem´s Der Prozess and last as Aegisth/ Elektra.

Recently he had big success with his role debuts as Baron Lummer/ Intermezzo at the Theater Basel and as Narr/ Schatzgräber at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Upcoming engagements will bring him to the Staatsopern München and Wien, the Mailänder Scala, the Oper Genf, the Theater Basel and the Bregenzer Festspiele.
