Cantor Vicky Glikin
Cantor Vicky Glikin has served as the Senior Cantor of Temple Emanu-El in Dallas, Texas since July 2016. Her cantorate has been dedicated to creating change in people’s lives through soulful learning, meaningful worship, spiritual engagement, musical participation, and social action. Cantor Glikin was born in Ukraine and lived in Kyiv until moving to Skokie, Illinois, at age 13. After graduating Cum Laude from Northwestern University and working as an equity analyst, Cantor Glikin recognized that serving the Jewish people was the best way for her to make a difference. She changed careers, becoming the cantorial soloist at North Shore Congregation Israel in nearby Glencoe where she founded a youth theater troupe called Ruach. Cantor Glikin received her M.A. in Sacred Music (2011) and Ordination (2012) from the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR). She was chosen for the selective Wexner Graduate Fellowship and received numerous academic and musical awards. She was trained as a Storahtelling Maven to bring theatrical techniques to Torah education; and is an alumna of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality’s Clergy Leadership Program. Cantor Glikin was named one of Chicago’s “36 Under 36” in 2014 and “Preston Hollow’s Person of the Year” in 2022. Cantor Glikin is the Chair of the American Conference of Cantors Retirement Board and has served as the President of the Reform Cantors of Chicago. She is married to her high-school sweetheart, Vlad Leybovich, and they are proud parents of Adam, Michelle and Sam.
