Cantor Leslie Niren

Cantor Leslie Niren is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance and a certificate in music education from Carnegie Mellon University. Upon graduation, while performing cantorial soloist duties at Temple Beth El in Boca Raton, Florida, she developed an affinity for congregational life and decided to become a cantor. She holds a Master of Sacred Music and was ordained as a cantor in May 2013 at the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music at HUC-JIR. Cantor Niren is passionate about using innovative repertoire and fusing Israeli culture with American Reform Judaism. As a prayer leader, she opens hearts, minds and souls through the transformative power of music. She enjoys a variety of musical styles, including classical, jazz, Broadway, pop and folk.
