Dallas Symphony Orchestra – Young Musicians Manager of Teaching & Learning

Educator and performer, Ashley Alarcon is known for her engaging, inclusive, imaginative, and interactive approach to music. She holds a Masters of Music in Flute Performance from the University of New Mexico, Curtis Mentor Network certificate, Suzuki certifications on Flute Book 1 and philosophy Every Child Can, and is an alumnus of the prestigious Teaching Artist Training Institute.

Ms. Alarcon currently serves as The Kim Noltemy Young Musicians Manager of Teaching and Learning for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Her passion for using wholesome and inclusive approaches to education has helped many children overcome underperformance at school and become more engaged and confident individuals. Her interest in education also extends to helping current Teaching Artists build upon their existing performance foundation to enhance their educational skills in the classroom. Her experience teaching in El-Sistema inspired Young Musicians Program has solidified her conviction that any child is capable of learning music because nurturing their innate curiosity and love for learning is what propels them forward.

As a performer, Ms. Alarcon plays as a freelance flutist within the DFW Metroplex and, previously, when residing in Mexico, served as interim Principal Flute with the Queretaro Philharmonic while also being an active freelance musician playing with the Mexico City Philharmonic, Eduardo Mata Youth Orchestra, and the Mexico City Grand Opera Orchestra.
