Saxophone virtuoso Timothy McAllister performs Pulitzer Prize winner John Corigliano’s new concerto Triathlon! in its World Premiere for wind band. As the title promises, you’ll hear plenty of athletic leaps, lines, and licks for soprano, alto, and baritone saxophones. A special guest appearance by The Boston Brass. And movie music by John Williams.
We start with two new out-of-this-world pieces by Dallas composer Quinn Mason: One happy and cheerful, the other delving into the mysteries of space and time. Then Grammy Award-winning soprano, songwriter and actress Hila Plitmann performs a tour-de-force rendition of In This Circle. Gramophone says, “Plitmann is radiant and fearless… her wondrous voice gleams in all registers, especially the stratosphere.”
A beloved Dallas holiday tradition for the whole family. Conductor Shiree X. Williams returns by popular demand, and our featured vocalist is the one-and-only operatic superstar Donnie Ray Albert. We’ve got all your Yuletide favorites neatly wrapped up, and Santa Claus has the Meyerson on his list!
