Dallas Symphony Orchestra Names Enrico Lopez-Yañez Nancy A. Nasher & David J. Haemisegger Principal Conductor, Dallas Symphony Presents

Three-Year Appointment Begins in the 2023/24 Season

DALLAS, TEXAS (May 16, 2023) – The Dallas Symphony Orchestra announces the appointment of conductor Enrico Lopez-Yañez to the newly created position of the Nancy A. Nasher & David J. Haemisegger Principal Conductor, Dallas Symphony Presents. In this role, he will conduct at least three programs in the 2023/24, 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons. In the 2023/24 season Lopez-Yañez will lead the DSO in two concerts with vocalist Lila Downs (September 15 & 16, 2023), accompany Troupe Vertigo (April 19-21, 2024) and helm the YP Gala on June 22, 2024.

Dallas Symphony Presents programs feature a range of genres from popular song and jazz to Latin music and Broadway stars. In recent seasons, DSP concerts have included two nights with Terence Blanchard, the annual Día de los Muertosconcert, selections from The Nutcracker, the Dallas premiere of Gabriela Ortiz’s Yanga and the popular Movies-in-Concert.

Enrico Lopez-Yañez is the newly named Principal Pops Conductor of the Pacific Symphony commencing in the 2023-2024 season. In addition, Lopez-Yañez is the Principal Pops Conductor of the Nashville Symphony where he leads the Symphony’s Pops and Family Series. Lopez-Yañez is quickly establishing himself as one of the Nation’s leading conductors of popular music and becoming known for his unique style of audience engagement. Since working with the Nashville Symphony, Lopez-Yañez has conducted concerts with a broad spectrum of artists including Nas, Patti LaBelle, Itzhak Perlman, Stewart Copeland, Kenny Loggins, Toby Keith, Leslie Odom Jr., Megan Hilty, Tituss Burgess and more. Lopez-Yañez also conducts the annual Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th fireworks show which was first televised on CMT in 2019 reaching millions of viewers across the nation.

In the upcoming season, Lopez-Yañez will appear with the Baltimore Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony, Philadelphia Orchesrea, Phoenix Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, and Seattle Symphony as well as make return appearances with the Dallas Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony and Omaha Symphony.

As Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Symphonica Productions, LLC, Lopez-Yañez curates and leads programs designed to cultivate new audiences. An enthusiastic proponent of innovating the concert experience, his exciting education, classical, and pops concerts are performed by orchestras across the United States.
