Remembering Roger Horchow

Long-time Dallas Symphony Orchestra donor and Arts District champion Roger Horchow died peacefully at home this weekend at the age of 91. In addition to being a longtime subscriber and patron of the DSO, Horchow was a generous supporter of the Dallas Symphony, and one of the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center’s conference and meeting spaces was aptly named after him. He served on the DSO Board of Governors for several terms including 1976-1977, 1994-2000 and 2007-2011.

In addition to his work for the Dallas Symphony, Horchow was a notable donor to several other arts groups throughout North Texas including the Dallas Museum of Art, AT&T Performing Arts Center and Kimbell Art Museum.

An avid lover of all music, Horchow helped to produce and win a Tony Award® for the Gershwin musical Crazy for You. Perhaps more well known as a giant in the retail world, Horchow helped to establish the business of high-end mail-order catalogue shopping.

His friendship and spirit will be dearly missed.
