Christine Hwang joined the Dallas Symphony Orchestra as a member of the viola section in September of 2011. She began her musical studies at the age of five on the violin and piano.  After earning a Bachelor of Music in violin performance, Summa Cum Laude, from Southern Methodist University, she continued her studies at SMU on full scholarship, receiving an Artist Certificate diploma in viola performance in 2009.

Christine’s performances have taken her to venues throughout the US, Mexico, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, and South Korea.  She has participated in numerous chamber and orchestral festivals including the Heifetz International Music Institute, the National Orchestral Institute, and the National Repertory Orchestra, where she was both principal violist and soloist with the orchestra. In addition to her orchestral activities, Hwang remains an active chamber musician and teacher in the DFW metroplex.  Christine happily resides in her hometown of Dallas with her husband, their daughter and their Wheaten Terrier mix.
