Remembering Robert G. Pollock (1927 – 2022)
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra mourns the loss of longtime friend and supporter of the DSO, Robert Gerard Pollock.
Robert Pollock was a life-long Dallas native and graduated second in his class from Highland Park High School. He spent his first college semester at Southern Methodist University followed by three years at Harvard College where he graduated with honors in 1949.
Mr. Pollock and his wife, Joan, were incredibly passionate about art and classical music and served on the Board of Directors for numerous organizations. Over the course of their lives, both Robert and Joan showed great support to the DSO.
Robert was a member of the Dallas Symphony Association Board of Governors from 1996 to 2005 and was an Advisory Governor from 1996 to 2013.
The Principal Viola Chair, Hortense & Lawrence S. Pollock Principal Viola Chair, was named for Robert’s parents. Lawrence and Robert’s father, Lawrence Sr., was President of the DSO from 1949 to 1956.
Robert is survived by his son Robert G. Pollock, Jr. and daughter Wendy Pollock (Diane); his step children R. Michael Martin (Victoria) and Martha Martin; his nephews Lawrence S. Pollock, III and Richard R. Pollock (Karen) and niece Carolyn A. Pollock, as well as his grandchildren, great grand-children, great nieces and nephews and great great niece and nephews. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.
