Scott Walzel
Scott Walzel joined the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in 1992. Before moving to Dallas, he was a member of the San Antonio Symphony from 1988-1992. A native Texan, Scott earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Houston and Master of Music Performance from the University of Southern California. His teachers include Norman Herzberg, Benjamin Kamins and Paul Tucci. Scott has participated in many summer festivals, including the Bravo Vail Valley Music Festival, Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Festival, Music in the Mountains Festival, Central City Opera Festival, Sun River Music Festival, Spoleto Festival and the Aspen Music Festival. In addition to his duties as a musician in the orchestra, Scott also serves as the Consultant for Orchestra Community Development and Outreach and has served on the faculty of the University of Texas at Dallas as the Wind Ensemble Director. Scott and his wife, Simone stay very busy raising their two boys, Benjamin and Alexander.
