TCHAIKOVSKY Violin Concerto
STRAVINSKY Pulcinella Suite

Nothing is better suited to show off Augustin Hadelich’s “dazzling technique, gorgeous tone and penetrating spontaneous musicality” (The New York Times) than Tchaikovsky’s towering Violin Concerto. The charming Pulcinella Suite is an orchestral tribute to the beautiful arias of the Italian Baroque composer Giovanni Pergolesi, attractively colored and embellished by the modern pen of Igor Stravinsky.

“I began by composing on the Pergolesi manuscripts themselves, as though I were correcting an old work of my own. I knew that I could not produce a ‘forgery’ of Pergolesi because my motor habits are so different; at best, I could repeat him in my own accent. The remarkable thing about Pulcinella is not how much but how little has been added or changed.”
