Roman Trekel has established himself as one of the most sought-after baritones. He re-ceived his musical education in Berlin starting his career at the Berlin State Opera and has been a principal singer of this company ever since. His repertoire includes roles such as Wolfram/Tannhäuser, Posa/Don Carlos, Count/Le Nozze di Figaro, Don Alfonso/Cosi fan tutte, Beckmesser/Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Kurwenal/Tristan und Isolde, Amfortas/Parsifal, Faust/ Doktor Faust and Wozzeck/Wozzeck. Der Ring des Nibelungen/Donner and Gunther (Daniel Barenboim, 2019/2020 season), Der Rosenkavalier/Herr von Faninal (2019/2020 season), Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor/Herr Fluth (2021/2022 season).

The artist has performed with the leading opera houses throughout Europe and Japan, inter alia with the Teatro alla Scala di Milano, the Royal Opera House London, the Dresden, Hamburg, Munich and Vienna State Operas, De Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, the Zurich Opera House, the New National Theatre Tokyo (Tannhäuser/Wolfram, January/February 2019), the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona (Lohengrin/Heerrufer, March/April 2020), Oper Leizig (Capriccio/Graf, March 2021), Gran Théâtre de Genève and Budapest Bartók Spring International Arts Week 2022, Eötvös: Sleepless/Boatman (March/April 2022) and the Bayreuth and Salzburg Festivals.

Roman Trekel’s intensive concert work as a lied recitalist and as soloist  with the major and prestigious orchestras and conductors include appearances with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (Le nozze di Figaro/Count, 2017), BBC Wales/Cardiff, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (2018 and 2019) under conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, Fabio Luisi, Zubin Mehta, Kent Nagano, Sir Simon Rattle, Christian Thielemann.

Numerous CD and DVD recordings for different labels – CPO, NAXOS, Berlin Classics, Arte Nova and Oehms Classics (Dichterliebe, Winterreise, Die schöne Müllerin), DVD Tannhäuser/Wolfram productions under Philippe Jordan (Arthus) and under Franz Welser-Möst (EMI Classics). Award winner of the ECHO-PREIS KLASSIK 2017 for the best opera recording (20th and 21st century) and of the Grammy (2018): Wozzeck/title role (Houston Symphony Orchestra, conductor: Hans Graf,  NAXOS label).
