I PINI DELLA VIA APPIA (THE PINES OF THE APPIAN WAY)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed?uri=spotify%3Atrack%3A7xObqhGqaExXOgahLituWx\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allow=\"encrypted-media\" width=\"300\" height=\"380\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI remember going into Rome, going up the Appian Way and actually seeing what it looked like and seeing the pine trees on the sides of the road because that\u2019s what this is supposed to depict.&nbsp; The fourth movement is about the Roman soldiers marching into Rome\u2026 it was supposed to be at dawn, a misty dawn.&nbsp; When you hear the beginning of this movement, it\u2019s very ominous, and the timpani and the harp are playing this solid marching beat that goes through the entire movement, and as the movement builds, the sun is coming up and you get this triumphant return of the soldiers going into Rome.&nbsp; It\u2019s very dramatic and incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>PUCCINI:&nbsp;<em>TOSCA<\/em><br>TE DEUM<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Dmitri Hvorostovsky - Te Deum (Tosca)\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uAa6gZGR9kM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cScarpia, who is the villain in the opera is in love with Tosca, and it\u2019s in a church, and he\u2019s singing about his love for Tosca.&nbsp; It starts out as a chant and there\u2019s a choir behind him and as the aria goes along, it gets more involved and more dramatic, and I think one of the words in the libretto is \u2018I would denounce God for your love\u2019\u2026 and then it builds and builds and the violins are just playing this simple melody underneath all of the brass again, and it comes to this Te Deum that he sings at the end of it and it\u2019s just spectacular.&nbsp; And if you have a great Scarpia it\u2019s another one of these hair-raising things.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>JAMES TAYLOR<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SWEET BABY JAMES<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed?uri=spotify%3Atrack%3A17PXXzOygMyXXUNLngVN5u\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allow=\"encrypted-media\" width=\"300\" height=\"380\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>SHOWER THE PEOPLE<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed?uri=spotify%3Atrack%3A1Pwcxq35Hl2kqwUVd5XCRg\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allow=\"encrypted-media\" width=\"300\" height=\"380\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;For me, James Taylor is this sort of complex simplicity.&nbsp; His music embodies jazz, it embodies bluegrass, folk.&nbsp; You can hear all of that in his music.&nbsp; His lyrics are simple but extremely meaningful if you know anything about his life.&nbsp; He\u2019s had a tough life, and you can sense the melancholy in a lot of his songs.&nbsp;
