Then, like the sun at the end, it dips down and the soprano asks \u2018Is this death?\u2019 and then you hear that quote from <em>Death and Transfiguration <\/em>at the end.\u00a0 It\u2019s Strauss\u2019 last piece he ever wrote, and it is absolutely the most beautiful thing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>MAHLER: Symphony No. 6<\/p>\n\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"richtext m-spacer\">\n\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"col-10\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/le14b8bir2A\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere are so many just incredible moments in the sixth symphony.\u00a0 First off, you listen to it and it sounds very erratic and it goes from one thing to the other.\u00a0 But you have to listen to it many times before you can make all these connections in the piece.\u00a0 There\u2019s a set of cowbells that are in the piece, and Mahler wrote that when your spirit leaves your body, it\u2019s the last sound you hear as your spirit goes over the mountains, which I think is really beautiful.\u00a0 He also uses it in the first movement but his use of it in the second movement&#8230; the second movement is about his love for his wife, and the cowbells are used almost like in sort of a sense of ecstasy.\u00a0 He loves her so much that his spirit is soaring in the sky and you hear those cowbells.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>ELLA FITZGERALD\/LOUIS ARMSTRONG: &#8220;Can&#8217;t We Be friends&#8221; from <em>Ella and Louis<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/track\/22MsyWQ5WFGv8GXP7qmzDP\" width=\"300\" height=\"80\" frameborder=\"0\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allow=\"encrypted-media\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat I love about listening to Ella Fitzgerald is she has the most beautiful voice. It\u2019s just this crystal clear voice, lyrical and musical.\u00a0 It\u2019s so captivating, I start listening to this album and before I know it, I have to flip it over.\u00a0 It\u2019s just something that makes me so happy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>BILL BELL: \u201cWhen Yuba Plays The Rumba On The Tuba\u201d from <em>Bill Bell and His Tuba<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Okttr6Bw6ek\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is the very first tuba LP, and it\u2019s one of the best if not the best\u2026 I put this record on every now and then just to remind me what an incredibly beautiful tuba sound is like, because his sound is like none other.\u00a0 I can remember the man that played in the Philadelphia Orchestra from the mid 40\u2019s until the early 70s, Abe Torchinsky, I remember him telling me, \u201cWhen Bill Bell played the tuba, everything, including yourself, vibrated.\u2019 It was just such a big beautiful sound\u2026 in \u2018When Yuba Plays The Rumba On The Tuba Down In Cuba\u2019, he sings on that, and it\u2019s the most incredible sounding voice.\u00a0 I just love that selection.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>HENRYK SZERYNG PERFORMING J.S.
